|Baldur's Gate is a series of fantasy computer role-playing games set in the "Forgotten Realms" Dungeons & Dragons game world. It uses the Infinity Engine and Dungeons and Dragons game rules. The complete story arc is covered by Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn, and the Throne of Bhaal expansion. The Tales of the Sword Coast expansion reveals additional areas but is not plot-critical.
The Dungeon Siege II fantasy game art on this page has screenshots of miniboss monsters. This page only has miniboss monsters from the Broken World expansion. Minibosses from Dungeon Siege II are on a separate page.
Like many fantasy computer roleplaying games, Dungeon Siege II features tougher versions of common monsters as special encounters. These are usually just slightly bigger and recoloured, but some few have their own models. Most are tied to a location and recur after a certain amount of time ("respawn time") has passed. Others are quest-related and appear only once. A Dungeon Siege II miniboss usually has a lot more health, allowing players the opportunity to use spectacular team tactics and a variety of powers that would otherwise be overkill. In this way, the game permits players the excitement of wielding epic power throughout the game. (In contrast, most role-playing games scale characters more slowly and the game design is loathe to give out great power too soon. In Dungeon Siege II, having the use of super-powers intermittently is essential.
