The Fantasy Art of Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Ending

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is a first-person perspective fantasy computer role-playing game set in a vast 3D world with an open-ended storyline that allows the player the freedom to pursue the main quest, side quests, or simply explore the world. The game is set in a different geographic location from the previous in the series (Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind) and in general the architecture and wildlife is more medieval and real-world. The fantasy game art is vastly improved, however, and at the time of its release wowed the world with its realism and attention to physics in its interactivity.

The main quest in Oblivion -- to end the demonic invasion of Mehrunes Dagon, close the Oblivion Gates, and thereby save the world from what is commonly known as the "Oblivion Crisis" -- comes to a frantic and exciting conclusion with the quest "Light the Dragonfires".

The final showdown occurs in the Temple District of the Imperial City. Oblivion Gates open there and endless sorties of demons invade. As the Champion of Cyrodiil escorts emperor Martin Septim toward the entrance of the Temple to light the dragonfires that would banish the demons back to their world, they run into the gigantic manifestation of Mehrunes Dagon himself.

Once inside the Temple, Martin Septim calls on Akatosh, Dragon God of Time to defeat Mehrunes Dagon.

This fantasy art / game art gallery has extensive screenshots of the Temple District during this finale, and of the battle between Akatosh and Mehrunes Dagon.
