Walkthrough for Neverwinter Nights 2 and Expansions

Dungeons & Dragons

The Forgotten Realms

From the Official Site for Neverwinter Nights 2...

Neverwinter Nights 2 (NWN2) is a computer role-playing game set in the fantasy world of the Forgotten Realms, one of the popular campaign settings of Dungeons and Dragons. It takes the player from the tiniest of villages into a sweeping tale of danger and war, chronicling their rise from a peasant to a full-fledged hero of the Realms, defending it against one of the greatest threats of the age.

Build a character that suits your style of play - good or evil, chaotic or lawful, with any number of skills, feats and professions available at the click of a button. Whether lobbing fireballs and researching forgotten spells as a powerful Wizard, hacking a trail through legions of orcs as a Fighter armed only with a battle axe and your courage, or taking on the role of a Rogue that can slip into the shadows at a moment's notice and take the purse from even the most perceptive of guardsmen. Choose your alignment, your allies, your companions, and how you want your character to develop... design the character you want, role-play the way you want, and carry the battle to the enemy.

The design aspects of Neverwinter Nights 2 don't stop there, however. Past the campaign included with the game itself, Neverwinter Nights 2 also gives you all the tools you need to build your own modules, campaigns, and adventures for your friends - move buildings, terrain, script encounters, write dialogues, create quests and items - everything you need to create an epic adventure of your own is included in the toolset for you and any other worldbuilder to use.

So if you are interested in adventure - or building adventures of your own - look no further. Neverwinter Nights 2 is on the horizon, and adventure awaits.

Overall the quality of the areas in Neverwinter Nights 2 was drastically improved from the original Neverwinter Nights, with many more terrain features and details to bring areas to life. The amount and quality of detail increased in the expansions, presumably as hardware caught up in processing power since the original release. Of particular interest are the grey-shaded Shadow worlds in Mask of the Betrayer, which showed excellent use of black and white in the content and artwork of those areas.

Due to the number of screenshots available for the Original Campaign and Mask of the Betrayer, we have quite arbitrarily divided them into subcategories by the name of the screenshot, which generally corresponded to the name of the area. The action in Storm of Zehir takes place in three discrete areas, and we have grouped our screenshots in that way (although Samarach and Chult look very similar).

The action of the Neverwinter Nights 2 campaigns takes place in The Forgotten Realms, a world setting in the Dungeons and Dragons roleplaying game. You can find out more about various key places from the campaigns by following these links:

Original Campaign: The Sword Coast, Neverwinter City, Crossroad Keep

The Characters galleries include unique characters (and creatures) from the campaigns. Frequently these will have special face templates or body models to distinguish them from generic characters and from the protagonist.

The Companion galleries include only characters that can travel with the protagonist, though not all are available throughout an entire campaign. Like unique characters, companions typically have a unique face or model to further distinguish them as one-of-a-kind. The Storm of Zehir optional companions are called "Cohorts". In Storm of Zehir, the player can assemble up to four members of their own creation and take on up to two cohorts, for a maximum party of six.

Armor in Neverwinter Nights 2 is categorized according to Dungeons and Dragons 3rd Edition, and each type of armor has statistics based on that scheme (but it does not have Splint Mail).

For our purposes, we have named the screenshots according to their names in Neverwinter Nights 2, and categorized them based on their appearance instead of their statistics. Refer to each individual page for more information.

The "Character Class" category collects the various outfits that are iconic for a particular character class (which can roughly be translated to an area or speciality or a profession). The final "Other" category collects the various outfits that are markedly different from any of the others.
