| Spellforce 2 is a real-time strategy game (RTS) that also has role-playing game (RPG) elements. It consists of the original campaign, Shadow Wars, and a sequel and expansion, Dragon Storm. The fantasy art features beautifully designed units and armour sets, and cutscenes using in-game resources allow each scene to feature the hero and party with whatever gear has been equipped at the time, rather than using a pre-recorded scene. Although Spellforce 2 has units that appeared in the original Spellforce, the game art and models for many of these have been significantly changed. |
Both the original Spellforce and Spellforce 2 take place in a shattered post-Convocation world where all that are left are islands in a sea said to be impossible to navigate. Each location is therefore on an island. This setup conveniently allows each mission to be done in relative isolation, the world therefore more uncomplicated, and each island to be very different from one another in terms of fantasy game art. The Westguard is a fief assigned to the hero in Shadow Wars, and over the course of the game, as the hero returns to improve this fief, features such as enchanted fountains and statues or city and castle walls are added. |
