The Fantasy Art of Dungeon Siege II: Broken World - Boss Monsters - The Rogue Mages Kanred, Kikrak of the Morden, and Celeb'hel the Elder

Baldur's Gate is a series of fantasy computer role-playing games set in the "Forgotten Realms" Dungeons & Dragons game world. It uses the Infinity Engine and Dungeons and Dragons game rules. The complete story arc is covered by Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn, and the Throne of Bhaal expansion. The Tales of the Sword Coast expansion reveals additional areas but is not plot-critical. The Dungeon Siege II fantasy game art on this page has screenshots of the three rogue mage bosses from the Broken World expansion. There are three Rogue Mages: Kanred, Kikrak of the Morden, and Celeb'hel the Elder. As they were all imbued with their magic by the Overmage, they all use the same magical powers and tactics. The fantasy art in the attacks here are the most colourful and spectacular in all of Dungeon Siege II and Broken World.

The Fantasy Art of Dungeon Siege II

Kanred was an arrogant Combat Mage living with his brother Burk in their backwater village. However, he resented this simple life. He dreamed of having his name known far and wide, but with the upheavals caused by the second cataclysm, his goals were more distant than ever.

When a traveling grandmaster mage offered to teach him the secrets of higher magic, Kanred jumped at the chance. In his haste to gain power at any cost, he abandoned all sense of caution. The massive influx of purified magic blasted his brain and turned him into a maddened pillar of living power.

Ironically, Kanred's wish had been granted, though not in the manner in which he had dreamed. Now, eternally doomed to wander the world mindlessly absorbing magic, Kanred's newfound power and fame came at a steep price.

Kikrak of the Morden

Following the defeat of Valdis and his army, the Morden became very sick, their bodies slowly wasting away. Kikrak was a powerful Morden-Gral sorcerer, and he refused to accept his fate, turning to dark powers to extend his life at any cost. When the Overmage appeared, promising power and knowledge and life, Kikrak welcomed him. But like Kanred, the Overmage's teachings were too much for his mind to handle. He too became a rogue mage, mindless and tortured.

Celeb'hel the Elder

When the heroes last saw Celeb'hel, he was the leader of Aman'lu, revered for his legendary wisdom and benevolence. Following the cataclysm, he split his soul into four parts, and sent three to find the power and knowledge necessary to save the Elves. One clone deliberately sought the Overmage of the Cinbri in an effort to learn his secrets. Like Kanred and Kikrak, this shadow of Celeb'hel was transformed into a rogue mage, and the heroes are forced to kill him.
